April Thompson, pictured right, is the newest member of our nationwide sales team; we’re quite happy to have her on board. April comes to us by way of our good friends at RugMark and is now pulling double-duty for both companies.
She is a great representative for both companies and is a True Believer in the Fair Trade movement. She’s based in DC and will be calling on our accounts in DC, New York, and Boston areas.
As mentioned in a previous post, RugMark is a company working to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia. They are our counterpart in the carpet industry and pursue much of the same goals and ideals that we do in the sporting goods industry.
April is pictured here with her Fair Trade Sports basketball signed by Angel McCoughtry, the first pick for the WNBA this year, now playing for the Atlanta Dream. This is more great exposure for FTS and the Fair Trade message. Imagine if every WNBA basketball was certified green and certified Fair Trade!
When I saw this photo of April, I had to ask about the dog. Her name is Quatorze – “fourteen” in French. April found Quatorze years ago when she was but a small dirty, flea-bitten puppy, having wandered into April’s birthday party on April 14th at an outdoor picnic in Guinea. The words April + Quatorze = April 14th, which happens to be April’s birthday!
